Office 2010 and companions reach public beta

This article was originally published in VSJ, which is now part of Developer Fusion.
Signaling that the end of the development process is in sight – Office 2010, SharePoint Server 2010, Visio 2010, Project 2010, Office Mobile 2010 and Office Web Apps for business customers have all been released as public betas.

With so many applications it’s difficult to give a list of what is new and important, but the new Outlook Social Connector SDK allows developers to build connectors to social networks while the Office Mobile 2010 bring Office to mobile phones and browsers. The fact that VBA is still in some Office components will be good news to some but an unnecessary distraction to others.
