problem with updating data tables

  I created a new SQL server database and then I created two new tables. In some of the fields, I have set Allow Nulls to false. I saved, tried it, and everything worked out. However, now I want to change that property in some fields, but they stay the same, unless I force it in the code. What is the problem? Thanks, Hugo
