Have a serious problem with a VB form based on a access DB using ADO

I have a form that is connected to a access DB. The for displays emaployess in a chain of stores. I have two tables the form is based on: an Employees table and a cities table. the tables are joined on the cityCode field. I have combobox on my form whose value member is the cityCode and the siplay member is the cityName. When I try to select a city from the combobox it acts as a look- up and takes me to the record that has that city instead of just changing the city for that specific employee. Any suggestions how I can fix this? is there a property that I change so that it doesnt work as a look-up?

I really appreciate it! Thanks for taking your time to read my question
