Toronto Code Retreat

Toronto Code Retreat is a Meetup group focused on learning and sharing software craftsmanship and testing practices with your peers. Meetups will be held in the style of a Code Retreat, which involves pair programming live with other group members using different programming languages. Sessions will focus on attempts to solve Conway's Game of Life. Locations will alternate between Toronto and Mississauga. We intend to hold the sessions the 2nd Thursday of each month. We'll open the meetup and have food available by 6 PM. The first session will start at 7 PM, so please plan on arriving before 6:45. If you arrive late, you should be able to join the next session once it starts. Sessions will go for forty-five minutes with a fifteen minute review, with session two starting at 8 PM and session three starting at 9 PM. You need to be able to provide the following:

Bring a laptop You should have a working development environment installed and ready to use that you have some skill with Have a testing framework installed and ready to go

  • Saturday Code Retreat (Mississauga Event)

    Taz and I are pleased to announce that we will be doing a Saturday event! We've gotten lots of requests for this format.The plan is to do registration for 8:30, and get started with the code retreat at 9 AM. We'll do six sessions - 9 AM, 10 AM, 11 AM, then lunch (catered!), then 1PM, 2PM , and 3PM sessions.As usual we're keen to get Ruby people, Java people, .NET people, LAMP people, everyone is welcome!Due to popular demand, this event will be June 9th!

  • Mississauga Code Retreat

    Welcome to Code Retreat Toronto (Mississauga edition)! The event is for software developers from different paradigms to learn new techniques, languages, and practices from each other by pairing to solve a pre-determined problem. Participants must choose a new partner for each session and new programatic constraints will be introduced with each session.
