Join us to hear a dynamic panel of experts who will be discussing their experiences and viewpoints about how Web 2.0 technologies and solutions are impacting the Healthcare domain. Our speakers for this meetup include:

David Hale, from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) National Library of Medicine, is very active in the Health 2.0 movement and is also involved in several very interesting initiatives as part of his day job. This includes the development of Pillbox: an application that enhances patient safety using a Mashup of Government Data, High-Resolution Imaging and Analysis, and Community-Developed Tools. He is also working on a Semantic Web project that looks at Natural Language Processing of Twitter #swineflu Posts using the Semantic Medline Prototype.

Mark Scrimshire, from CareFirst Blue Cross Blue Shield, is currently working as a Senior Web Strategist advising on the deployment of technology to address business transformation issues in the healthcare industry. Mark specializes in rapid deployment of solutions to address business problems using Web 2.0 technologies and techniques. Mark is also very active in the Web 2.0 and Health 2.0 communities and is the organizer of the popular HealthCamp series of events. In his past, Mark spent 18 months blogging for O’Reilly Media at AOL, producing a daily blog talking about the implications of Web 2.0 technology.

Michelle Strah from General Dynamics. Up until a few months ago Michelle was a member of US Army Medical where she acted as a Web 2.0 and Social Media strategy consultant. As a civilian, Michelle is now a consultant to Defense Centers of Excellence for Psychological Health and Traumatic Brain Injury, where she acts as a subject matter expert in the use of Web 2.0 technologies and solutions. As Michelle said "the only thing that has changed for me is that I don't have to wear a uniform to work anymore."

We will have a fourth speaker lined up soon and I will provide that information as soon as I have it.

We are still working on finalizing the location and I will have more information on that shortly. We are looking to try something new by holding this event in Silver Spring, and I welcome any suggestions you may have.

We look forward to seeing you all on the 5th.
