MD Web 2.0 & New Media

The purpose if this group is to meet other professionals interested in sharing and learning about topics such as :

  • Web 2.0 and 3.0
  • Social media platform technology (Facebook, MySpace, openID, etc.)
  • Social gadgets/widgets
  • Microblogging & blogging
  • Non-profit , Education, Government 2.0
  • Community building - Communication & Outreach

The Meetup event will be held in the Laurel, MD area (halfway between DC and Baltimore- right off 95), as Aquilent has generously offered up the use of their conference center. We will have some light refreshments. The meetups will take place in the early evening, so we can accommodate as many people as possible.

This event will emphasize the presentation of case studies and real world examples that highlight innovative use and results associated with implementing web 2.0 tools in the health domain.     Join us to hear from a couple of Health 2.0 experts who will be discussing their experiences and viewpoints about how Web 2.0 technologies and solutions are impacting the Healthcare domain. Our speakers for this meetup include: Sanjay Koyani, Director of Web Communications for the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), leads Web design and usability efforts for the FDA. As director, he sets strategic direction for FDA.gov and related media, including the continued evolution of FDA.

  • Health 2.0 - Discussing the impact of Web 2.0 on Healthcare

Our speakers for this meetup include: David Hale, from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) National Library of Medicine, is very active in the Health 2.0 movement and is also involved in several very interesting initiatives as part of his day job.
