Early February Meetup - the Love meetup!
Topic: "I had that idea!' In a spirit totally contrary to love, we're going to each share which popular and/or successful web application we had the idea for years before it was a success. Then in the spirit of love, share/appreciate one thing they thought of that you didn't. Come ready to share for about 5 minutes.
Bonus question: Time, money, and a pool of developers being no object, how would you tweak the idea and make a success of it yourself?
Extras:
Since our last meeting, I met with a new member one on one to discuss his app idea. Bring any ideas you have about polling external sources of data such as XML or even - shudder - scraping HTML pages. I'll let him fill you in.
I'm asking if someone would be willing to volunteer to share a piece of code they're proud of - or that has something different about it - and speak for about 15 to 20 minutes on it. No powerpoint required :-)
Time: 7:30 to 9:PM
General Info:
All of our meetups are informal.
Bring your laptop if you want to share some code.
Bring questions or esoteric topics to discuss.
Bring a willingness to get to know people and make friends.
Everyone will be encouraged to blog and link to each other afterward.
Bring a camera!

Jeff & Joel are joined today by Dave Winer, who’s upset that we don’t have a jingle to start the show! He “invented” (well, pioneered, really) the XML-RPC protocol. Dave tells us the story of how and why the protocol came to be. Right now, Dave’s working on a “magnificent symphony of software
