Automatic web service testing

This article was originally published in VSJ, which is now part of Developer Fusion.
Web service testing is an essential but challenging component in building an SOA system. You need to test security, compliance and reliability to be confident that your SOA implementation is going to be successful. Now Parasoft has a tool that can automate SOAP testing – SOAPtest 4.0.

All tests cover a range of aspects of a web service, from WSDL validation, through unit and functional testing of the client and server, to performance and security testing. It can now automatically create security penetration tests that protect web services from threats such as SQL injections, XML bombs, and parameter fuzzing. A trial version is available from the Parasoft website.
