  perl still has its uses but is an old and outdated language.
  

  
  for internet usage, where one might have used PERL as a CGI, one would now use the PHP ISAPI module for a web server such as IIS or Apache.
  

  
  php is much better, faster, secure, easy etc. etc. etc.
  

  
  what sorta stuff do you wanna use perl for? i'll tell you (if i can) if there'd be something better to use.....
