Getting Started with DB's and .NET

    NuBi question ... I know an intermediate amount of vb6 but just started with .NET 2005.  I want to know how to connect to a SQL box and display the results of a query to a textbox. I've looked around the site a bit but everything is much more that what I currently understand about .NET. I have an ODBC connection setup named Northwind if this helps ....

    ie. SELECT LastName FROM Northwind WHERE employeeID = 1

    an example of this would be nice, but I'll take what I can get at this point.
