    We've been swept up in Agile Development methods that tell us to decrease the time-to-feedback. This advice was given in the late-90's when time-to-feedback was unnaturally-lengthy. But the goal isn't to just continue reducing time-to-feedback ad infinitum. Otherwise, we'd drive ourselves past the tipping point where shorter-than-natural feedback cycles would be as detrimental as the lengthy feedback cycles of old. Yes, feedback loops can be too small just as they can be too lengthy.

    In 1983, Lisanne Bainbridge, an industrial psychologist at University College in London, wrote a seminal paper that should give software developers 30 years later some pause as to our current investments of both hope and money in automation.At the June Lean Software Austin meeting, we'll be reviewing "Ironies of Automation", an eight-page paper on the effects of automation that contradict the expectations and the dreams of error-proofed human industry.

    For this first Lean Software Austin meeting at Compass Learning, we’ll be doing an entirely learning-themed meeting!Working together in an open and collaborative format, we’ll examine the Lean Software Development topics that we feel are critical to our own efforts, and for our organizations.Our goal for this meeting is to create an outline of a curriculum for Lean Software Development.
