Southern California Palm preMongers

Welcome to the Southern California Association of Palm pre Interest Groups.

This group is targeted for both Palm Pre users and developers.

If you just got your pre, thinking about a pre, or a pre pro your welcome to join this group. Each user meetup will discuss how to get the most out of your pre for business or pleasure. We will discuss tips and tricks, the latest cool applications for the pre, and the latest news from Palm and Sprint.

Each developer meetup will discuss how to join the many develapers creating applications for the pre. webOS is so easy that the application can be just for your self, but is also powerful enough to create the next blockbuster mobile application.

There will also be combined meeting we can talk about all things pre and what new application or features could make the pre even better.

All meetings are hands on so bring a pre if you have it and prepare to learn a lot while having fun in the process.

The date for preDevCamp (predevcamp.org) is firm and August 8th. I'm the Orange County organizer so it will be a sort of a combined day long event. There will be presentations, hands one projects, etc. This is one meetup you do not want to miss.

Its Official: Palm Pre Releases on June 6th, $199 after contract. If you want one bad, but hate the thought of standing in lines then join us on the morning of the sixth. You'll still be standing in line but it will be a great chance to meet and get acquainted with other meetup members. Greg will have a list of all known 3rd party apps seen on or announced for the pre, so you have an idea of what to look for in the apps store.

  • Monetizing Your webOS Efforts

    Sun, 12 Jul 2009, 20:00 - 22:00 in Trabuco Canyon, United States

In this Meetup we are going to shift from the technical to the business side of webOS development. You probably want the fruits of your webOS effort to bring fame or fortune (or both). This Meetup will hopefully give you an excellent strategy for getting there as quickly as possible. We will discuss the current body of knowledge of the Palm application store, as well as ?case studies? from the application stores for other mobile devices such as the iPhone and Android.

  • Manual, what manual?

    Sun, 12 Jul 2009, 02:00 - 04:00 in Trabuco Canyon, United States

The pre comes with a large manual that most users will hardly read. If your among that group (or even if you read it cover to cover several times) you should come to our next meetup. We will talk about all that has happened in the pre community since the pre first came out. The coolest of the tips and tricks in the manual and answer what questions we can about the Palm, Sprint, and the pre.Hoping to meet at Sprints fine facilities but no meeting place is yet confirmed.

  • HTML5 and webOS data storage

    Sun, 14 Jun 2009, 20:00 - 22:00 in Lake Forest, United States

At our first Meetup I shared some links about HTML5, how it can be used to locally store persistent data, and security issues with such storage. The morning of our first Meetup, the Data chapter (chapter 6) of webOS book was also released. It was agreed that our next Meetup should be about this important topic. This will be a working session. Bring a charged laptop and USB drive if you can (I?m not sure about outlets or wifi at venue yet.
