Hit counter

I wonder whether someone would be so kind as to give me a clue on how to make a Perl (CGI?) script that will count the number of times a page is loaded and increment a counter file before showing the count somewhere in the page.

It'd be very nice if someone could also provide info on how to show the count in graphical form (perhaps as simply as digit-by-digit, but a process which makes one image from binding the single digits would be nice).

    Yours in hope,

    Heinrich.
