control inherirting from gridview

Hi all, I want to develop a custom control which inherit from gridview. It must support single/multiple selection of records(checkbox),to hide unwanted columns and on double click on any of record it should cross post to new detail page with the values of the gridview record make it readily available... Please suggest how do i as i am new beginner
