mscomm and cominputmodebinary

hi, my question is about the input mode property of the mscomm control.
i am using a program that sends and recieve data between 2 computers through COM port.
when input mode was set to 0 (textmode) everything goes smooth, i am able to send text by inputing data into a text field. but when i set this property to 1(binary) an error occurs, the mscomm.input property returns null. i thing my problem is in inputing data in the text field. so how can i write binary in the text field? or how can i send binary data to the COM port ?
    thanks.
