Hi,
I've tried to install VB6 on a Vista laptop that had already VS2005 on it. Based on recommendations in various articles on the web, I switched off UAC, ran the installs as administrator (even though I already have administrator rights) and used compatibility settings. Unfortunately to no avail. It looks like all is going fine, all files are copied, and the system is being configured, but the setup ends with a message that the install failed. Strangely enough I can run the IDE, but started to have problems with some existing code. In addition, I can't install the service pack 6.
Then I discovered somewhere that MS recommends to install VB6 first, and VS2005 after. So I started to uninstall. That worked fine, until I tried to uninstall VB6. Apparently it's in the registration process where things fail, as the app doesn't show up in the list if installed programs.
Does anyone have a suggestion how I can get back to a "clean" environment ?
Thanks in advance,
Erwin
