    Hello fellow geeks! November's meetup is taking a break from the latest PHP trend. Jason Leveille has stepped up to the mic to present HTML5. HTML5 is here and it is something we should be paying attention to. Though it is convenient to write off HTML5 as something that is in our distant future, thanks to the flurry of browser development activity over the last few years, there are many parts of HTML5 we can use today.

    Eli White has graciously offered to give his presentation on "Highly Scalable Web Applications" for PHP that he gave at this year's PHP|TEK conference. from what the slides show, it mostly talks about different recipes of separating out databases across servers and touches on caching methods. Eli White is a PHP Coder, author, and speaker who currently works as the Community Relations Manager for Zend.

  • A spotlight on a web technology, yet to be determined

    We are still deciding what to demonstrate for this meetup. I just wanted to put the timeslot up so you can reserve a time. July didn't work because allot of us were on vacation. Normally, we'll be meeting once a month.If anyone has ideas on a technology topic- i.e. "I'll do a technology demo"- please chime in. A couple of suggestions are Flash/Flex and PHP frameworks (featuring cakePHP). There also could be MySQL vs PostgreSQL. Please chime in/ contribute!
